THE FUTURE IS HERE

Neural Engineering & Rehabilitation for Neurodegenerative Disease

Dr Isabelle Killane of Technological University Dublin and collaborator with Trinity College talks about the use of quantitative methods as objective methods for assessing neurodegeneration, including: How do we objectively measure motor and cognitive function? How do we design ecological environments? What level of rehabilitation is possible? How do we maintain function for as long as possible? How can we do this in a clinical setting? Isabelle talks about key findings from research in the area and talks through her career to date including research projects that she has been involved with.
Isabelle’s presentation is followed by a Q&A session with the audience. In response to a question about the use of virtual reality (VR) technology, the VR study was performed in a hospital setting and this setting was familiar to the participants.
