Earlier juristic basis of our laws took away victims' agency and was perpetrator focused. Did little to change sexist patriarchal approach of our society which induces such crimes. Laws need to tackle this and delays in depositions, overcrowding of prisons etc.

BNSS stipulation of 3 year trial is a breath of fresh air for pendency. But if prosecution don't have necessary material for a speedy trial, the direction may end up being only directory."
