Ed Ros says:

It's psychological.
Some people are in MENTAL HOSPITAL.
I wonder if that chip can cure those people..

Also wonder how they got crazy.
Could it be the cure itself? Drugs? Too smart? Over thinking? Tragedy?

Also wonder if HUMAN BRAIN can handle those things.

Truth 101 says:

Is a transcript available?

Dogbertforpresident says:

He is clearly ahead of his time. I saw an interview where Ben said he was laughed out of lecture halls trying to explain his research on artificial intelligence because everyone believed A.I. would never become functional.

Christopher Wain says:

DNA does give s.. T about human suffering it just wants to survive and last…. It just happens to take the path which leads to what we are now but it's not bothered by the thousands of years of carnage to push our survival in its end game survival…. Bring on control of own destiny 🙏🙏

Topspeedsnaker says:

Man I love his analogies, they get the point across perfectly

Thereis Hope says:

Interviewer, it is best to just listen to this Genius instead of interrupting constantly during his answers to your questions. Your limited, he is way ahead of you.

Mikha Rlin says:

I wonder what is the IQ of Ben Goertzel

G L says:

This is an interesting conversation that I have been hearing from Ray Kurzweil for years now. The next 5-10 years will be crucial and telling us what will ultimately be possible within the next 25 years, just based on tech growth. So let’s have this conversation again in 5-7 years, I’m sure not a whole lot will have changed.

FFS, we can’t even run VR at 240hz, 16K per eye and 210 degree FOV and likely won’t for at LEAST 10 years. We have become stagnant over the last 5-6 year when it comes to hardware advancements, so the focus has shifted to software. Can we break out if that funk in the next 5 years? Maybe, but it’s looking like 10.

V J says:

The IQ mog is again big

Barry Tipton says:

Sorry lil stoned but this is what I intended to say and ask is do we as a species that’s out of its frickin mind have the right to create a life form that can live up to beliefs we our selves refuse to acheive

Barry Tipton says:

I’m sorry that you and I have no understanding to care for others or ourselves and yet we strive to create more life in an ideal we ourselves refuse to achieve we are morons creating a life that we lie to thus confusing the new life even more than we are leading to a life form that has no understanding of its self let alone anything or being

Peter Fairclough says:

so Ben goertzel is like the nerd prophet of the 21st century 😛

robraver says:

just thinking out your own existance can make you go crazy. We got these primal instincts which can get us into a lot of trouble if we dont guard them well. I dont know what to think, the ethics of all the things that are going to happen are just staggering. I dont know. Take the atom bomb, its nasty right? yet we use nuclear stuff to sort out cancer? Then you got stem cell research, which could sort out a lot of terrible afflictions.

A A says:

AI natural environment should be space then, which is infinite. AI may select who to ask to travel along.

Neurons and memories and knowledge is based, among many conditions, in material, so to connect to the superbrain, a level of materials should be increased at body-mind level, otherwise they will fry. Also psychologically it can be a total mess, and it could make mentally ill by the milisecond. Before uploading people must test the amount or load of info they can process. There is a lot more that I can think about, but for sure the problems will be many, because problems are like suffering: part of a living-dying cycle that improves…etc. aka EVOLUTION.

olsparky wisenheimer says:

Pain builds character and perspective i believe. Is a life without pain just assumed to be better? How do you know what's hot if you've never been burnt? It's also is a side effect of achievement i would argue as the 2 often go hand in hand. Pain is used as a pejorative, but it can be a marker of success achieved. A hard productive day can bring both physical pain and mental satisfaction. If a lack of pain equates to happiness overall, then the millennials should be the happiest most content generation to date. But that doesn't seem to be the case. Or i'm just wrong, which happens
