This video is a part of the talks given at TEDxIITKharagpur 2016, produced independently of the TED conferences. Machines and robots have started taking over mankind in the present scenario. Mr. Panicker in this video explains how well Artificial Intelligence and machines can be deployed to make this world a better place. He dives into the social, political and economic consequences of AI’s after being incorporated into the real world. He reminds us that the situation now is such that we can change the nature but the question still remains that, “What will we do?” He appeals cultures to come forward and answer the question.

An alumnus of IIT Madras, Stanford University, Rahul Alex Panicker is the president and co-founder of the Embrace Innovations. A graduate in Electrical Engineering, listed in World’s Top 35 Innovators under the age of 35, Rahul has worked on multimode ultra high-speed optical telecom systems at Infinera Corporation before he founded Embrace Innovations. Dr. Panicker and a few other fellow graduates created a low-cost and low maintenance infant incubator that works without electricity. He donates these infant incubators to clinics in need. He has been awarded “Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2013” and “The Economist Innovation Award for Social and Economic Innovation “.

Juan Juanano says:

I could read this in 5 minutes and will understand more. Instead of listening to some one who repeat 5 hundred times the same words. And "amm" "mmm" learn to speak and speak English too, little indian fella.

Tehlanyu says:

Mr. Panicker has cogently presented a glimpse of our future. We are at the beginning of a technological revolution that will dramatically change our lives. Today we struggle for survival but if we reach a time where our basic needs are met through AI and automation then it will become clear what our next step will be.

I believe that this is all leading to interplanetary travel. Super intelligent computers will figure out how to go to distant planets. Each of us will participate in this endeavor and this will become our new purpose in life. We will become united in this goal to expand beyond our solar system.

We evolved as travelers and explorers. The computer is an invention that will become an indispensable tool in our quest to explore beyond this planet. We were born to do this and it will take cooperation from each of us to propel us on this incredible journey. Your life will have value and purpose when you see this as your reason for being here.

robots work 24/7

Cultural Communication Arts says:

Cheaper than suicide or starving to death, or dying homeless? You don't know banks eat babies and murder babies, and drink the blood of babies and rape children. The most innocent or ignorant Ted ever. Question your own blind privilege that lead you here. Mass murders will hire you. Look into yourself and see ""The cremation of Care."

Apurva Mujumdar says:

a very scary place indeed! machines taking over all work! machines can never be as creative or empathetic as humans because they lack a soul..
