Presented at Activate 2018 Slides: As the AI revolution continues to accelerate and new AI products are developed to solve key problems faced by consumers, businesses and the world at large. In the very near future, almost all new technology will incorporate some form of AI, driving the human machine engagement to unimaginable heights. As our reliance on AI deepens, many far-reaching ethical issues will arise – affecting everyone, including public citizens, small businesses utilizing AI or entrepreneurs developing the latest AI technology. We will discuss the moral code of AI, how we can solve some of the world’s largest problems with AI and being human in the age of AI. Learn more:
The final goal of artificial intelligence (AGI – that a machine can have a type of general intelligence similar to that of humans) is one of the most ambitious ever proposed by science. In terms of difficulty, it is comparable to other great scientific goals, such as explaining the origin of life or the Universe or discovering the structure of matter. In recent centuries, this interest in building intelligent machines has led to the invention of models or metaphors of the human brain. Yet the future roles toward us at an ever-increasing pace. What what is the future of AI and how will it affect humanity in our everyday lives? Dr Ben Goertzel a world-leading AI scientist who is the founder and CEO of SingularityNET, a decentralised market place for AI services, gives his vision of the future and answers some very astute questions in a fireside chat with Lavine Hemlani the founder and CEO of Xccelerate. —- SingularityNET is a decentralized marketplace for artificial intelligence. We aim to create the world’s global brain with a full-stack AI solution powered by a decentralized protocol. We gathered the leading minds in machine learning and blockchain to democratize access to AI technology. Now anyone can take advantage of a global network of AI algorithms, services, and agents. Richard Socher, Founder of, joined us. at the RE•WORK Deep Learning Hybrid Summit in San Francisco this February where he was interviewed by Rob Toews to share the latest progress from
Jeff Dean, Angelica Willis, and Jehron Petty will share their unique perspectives and experiences, the work they do now, and how they got to where they are today. We hope the conversation will give students an enhanced understanding of computer science and research, the impact they can have on society through these fields, and the many paths available to undergraduate students interested in a research career.

Moderated by Katherine Gorman, Executive Producer, Talking Machines Dr. Andrew Ng is Chief Scientist at Baidu. He leads Baidu Research, which comprises three interrelated labs: the Silicon Valley AI Lab, the Institute of Deep Learning and the Big Data Lab. The organization brings together global research talent to work on fundamental technologies in areas such as image recognition and image-based search, speech recognition, natural language processing and semantic intelligence. In addition to his role at Baidu, Dr. Ng a faculty member in Stanford University’s Computer Science department, and Chairman of Coursera, an online education platform that he co-founded. Dr. Ng is the author or co-author of over 100 published papers in machine learning, robotics and related fields. He holds degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, MIT and the University of California, Berkeley. Katherine Gorman is the Executive Producer of the Talking Machines podcast and the Creative Director of Tote Bag Productions. After a decade as a daily news producer for public radio, she pursued her passion for science reporting and launched the podcast with host Harvard Professor Ryan Adams. Through clear explanations of fundamental concepts and in depth interviews with those at the forefront of research, Talking Machines introduces the reality of machine learning to a wide audience. Early in its first season, the show has already become one of the most popular tech news podcasts on the global iTunes charts.
