US Immigration USCIS have issued a bunch of policy changes for US visas and Green cards to reduce backlog and faster adjudication, such policy changes include, Biometrics cancellation for 24 months, conducting interviews over phone and even Interview waivers for certain applications. These policy changes may also Reduce rejections due to deference and elimination of prior policy. They are even reusing old biometrics for faster adjudication and simplified the process to reschedule biometric appointments. Rescheduling Biometric Services Appointments by Phone. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced today that applicants may now call the U.S.C.I.S Contact Center in the following telephone number, (800-375-5283) to reschedule their biometric services appointments scheduled at a U.S.C.I.S Application Support Center. Suspended certain biometrics requirements for 24 months. Starting May 17, 2021, U.S.C.I.S will temporarily suspend the in-person biometrics requirement for H, L and E derivative nonimmigrants, seeking extensions of stay and changes of status in the United States. The policy will remain in place through May 17, 2023, unless extended or revoked. During this time, applicant spouses and children filing Form I-539 for H, L & E derivative status will not be required to attend a biometrics appointment, for the capture of their fingerprints and photo. Expansion of Interview Waiver Eligibility is also applied at the US consulates abroad. Department of Homeland Security, has temporarily expanded the ability of consular officers to waive the in-person interview requirement, for individuals applying for a nonimmigrant visa in the same classification.
