A society of mind and machines where the complementary skills of humans and computers interact and augment each other is laid out by Francesca Rossi. Instead of fearing for the future of humanity, she convincingly argues for a collaborative vision of tomorrow in which intelligent machines help us to lead more sustainable and prosperous lives.

Francesca Rossi is a full professor of computer science at the University of Padova, Italy, where her research interests focus on artificial intelligence (AI), with a particular emphasis on preference modeling and reasoning, constraint processing, multi-agent systems, and voting theory. She is a fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence and the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence and serves as president of the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence from 2013 until 2015.
