Vidushi Marda is a legal researcher leading Article 19’s global research and engagement on artificial intelligence (AI). She has shown her expertise at the World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology, the UN Human Rights Council and at the European Parliament. Her intensive research has been cited by the Supreme Court of India in its historic ruling on the Right to Privacy. She is also a non resident analyst at Carnegie India.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) sometimes called machine intelligence, is intelligence demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans. ⁣Initially created with a notion that it would be unbaised, however what we see today is the complete opposite. Now, are the smart machines adapting this biasness or is it because of human intervention?⁣

She currently leads Article 19’s global research and engagement on artificial intelligence (AI) and human rights, and is also a non-resident research analyst on AI and rights at Carnegie India. Marda has served as an invited expert at the World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology, the UN Human Rights Council, the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, among others. Her research has been cited by the Supreme Court of India in its historic ruling on the Right to Privacy, and by the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression.
