Webinar: PANEL: Thought to action: developing brain machine interfaces to assist individuals with paralysis

Webinar Abstract: Brain machine interfaces (BMIs) aim to help patients with paralysis to use their recorded brain activity to control assistive devices. BMI research requires the collaboration of neuroscientists, engineers, computational neuroscientists, and clinicians. Generally motor cortex has been used as a source of control signals. With our U01 BRAIN Initiative grant and other NIH grant support, we have examined a different area of cortex for BMI control, the posterior parietal cortex (PPC).
