I’ve designed a free natural language processing curriculum for anyone interested in improving their skills in order to start a startup, get consulting work, or find full-time work related to NLP. This curriculum is for beginners and starts with basic NLP terminology, then moves into basic language models and word embeddings. Then, it moves onto more advanced concepts like neural networks, sequence modeling and dialogue systems. At the end, I’ll detail what the most experimental, modern-day techniques are in the field. I hope you find this curriculum useful! Curriculum for this video: https://github.com/llSourcell/Learn-Natural-Language-Processing-Curriculum Want more education? This course is a practical introduction to natural language processing with TensorFlow 2.0. In this tutorial you will go from having zero knowledge to writing an artificial intelligence that can compose Shakespearean prose. No prior experience with deep learning is required, though it is always helpful to have more background information. We’ll use a combination of embedding layers, recurrent neural networks, and fully connected layers to perform the classification. ⭐️Course Contents ⭐️ ⌨️ (01:16) Getting Started with Word Embeddings ⌨️ (33:25) How to Perform Sentiment Analysis on Movie Reviews ⌨️ (59:32) Let’s Write An AI That Writes Shakespeare ⭐️Course Description ⭐️ The basic idea behind natural language processing is that we start out with words, i.e. strings of characters, that are almost impossible for the computer to meaningfully parse. We can transform these strings into a vector in a higher dimensional space. Different words will be represented as vectors of different lengths and directions in this space, and this allows us to find relationships between words by finding the component of one vector along another. Don’t worry, the TensorFlow library handles all of this, we just have to have some basic idea of how it works. Since this is a type of supervised learning, we also have labels for our text. This allows the AI to compare the relationships between words to the training labels, and learn which sequences of words represent good and bad movie reviews. This would also work for finding toxic comments, fake product reviews… just about [More]

Google CEO Sundar Pichai started off the 2018 developer fest on a rather cheesy note! He spoke about fixing bugs in things that matter such as the burger emoji and floating foam on beer mug emoji! And, Artificial Intelligence had to be on top of things. Google aims to open AI centres around the world, and utilise machine learning for revolutionising healthcare. Sometimes emotions don’t make sense, and sometimes being emotional doesn’t mean you’re emotionally intelligent. Growing up, rationality often came before emotions for Ramona, but as she grew older and realized that she had never actively learned how to deal with her emotions and that she wasn’t the only one who lacked this skill, she knew she had to change something. In her talk, Ramona guides us through her experiences and shows us 6 steps to become more emotionally intelligent. Ramona Hacker has a degree in English and American Studies and is currently pursuing a Masters in World Heritage Studies. Through several personal experiences as well as her volunteer experience at a local soccer club and for the student organization AIESEC, she started thinking about the topic of emotional intelligence and how it affects everyone’s lives and the way we deal with our problems. She will share research from the field as well as personal stories with the TEDxTUM audience. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

As a pandemic grips the world, a person could be forgiven if they had forgotten about another threat to humanity’s way of life – the rise of robots. For better or worse the robots are going to replace many humans in their jobs, analysts say, and the coronavirus outbreak is speeding up the process. “People usually say they want a human element to their interactions but Covid-19 has changed that,” says Martin Ford, a futurist who has written about the ways robots will be integrated into the economy in the coming decades. “Covid-19 is going to change consumer preference and really open up new opportunities for automation.” Let us know what you think. Our opinions of AI have been formed by mainstream media, but that stops now. This week we speak with New York Times best-selling author, Martin Ford about Artificial Intelligence. In his new book, Ford records the conversations he has had with the very people developing artificial intelligence. This book which was released in 2015 analyzes the impact that AI will have on the labor market like retail, health care, education, IT, consumerism, etc. He believes that there will be a social and economic disruption because of AI and machine learning. #1 The American Goldilocks period There was a perfect symbiosis between rapid technological progress and the welfare of the American workforce from 1945 after WW2 to 1970. Machines were widely used to improve the productivity of the workers, which increased profits and made humans more valuable, allowing them to demand higher wages. However, after the 70s, machines proved to be better workers than humans. While this shift to automation is visible in the automotive and agriculture fields, it’s not as evident in architecture and construction. #2 Factory reshoring Outsourcing or offshoring is the act of moving work and jobs to another country for numerous reasons, one of them being cheaper labor. This loss of jobs in the States was evident from the 1970s to the early 2000s. However, we are now [More]

It’s 2040, and you stroll into the Center for Mind Design where you can buy a variety of brain enhancements. How far do you want to go? The human calculator promises to give you savant-level mathematical abilities. The Zen garden can make you calmer and more efficient. Or you can buy “merge,” a series of enhancements that allow you to gradually augment and transfer mental functions to the cloud. This might all sound like science fiction, but Susan Schneider, a cognitive scientist and philosopher at the University of Connecticut and the NASA–Blumberg chair of astrobiology at the Library of Congress, says brain microchips and other techniques to integrate humans with artificial intelligence are under development. AI, she says, is revolutionizing the economy and will inevitably go inside the head as corporations attempt to allow us seamless access to our devices. Schneider addresses the implications of AI in our lives and how to ensure the science develops in a way that promotes human flourishing.
