THE FUTURE IS HERE

Learning in the Age of AI: Critical Insights from Stanford's Graduate School of Education Dean

Alpha School’s co-founder MacKenzie Price joined Stanford’s Graduate School of Education Dean Dan Schwartz on May 15, 2025 for an insightful conversation about AI’s role in transforming education. They discussed how AI enables true 1-to-1 personalized learning, empowers students as creators rather than passive consumers, and provides real-time insights into student progress instead of waiting for report cards every eight weeks.

Schwartz emphasized that while AI can help automate outdated teaching methods, the real opportunity lies in helping students create — like writing songs to learn history or building architectural plans they can virtually experience. Most importantly, students still need foundational knowledge to interpret and appreciate AI’s outputs, but they can learn more efficiently through AI-powered personalization.
