THE FUTURE IS HERE

Keynote Speaker on Technology and Disruptive Innovation

Dynamic Keynote Speaker for Business Conferences

This keynote speech covers big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, exponential technologies and disruptive innovation. Patrick Schwerdtfeger uses case histories and success stories to explain the technology trends reshaping our world. This event was for Protiviti in San Francisco in June, 2017. Patrick introduces a series of predictive models and frameworks to anticipate where the trends are leading.

In the 1960s and 70s, the big innovation was electricity, and businesses added it to every product imaginable. Now in the 2020s and 30s, the big innovation is artificial intelligence, and businesses will be systematically adding AI to everything. Machine learning will optimize performance for everything. Indeed, we are optimizing our planet, business by business and region by region. Businesses need to stay abreast of technology developments to ensure they don’t get disrupted along the way.

Patrick Schwerdtfeger is a business futurist who specializes in technology trends including big data, deep learning and blockchain. This is a 60-minute keynote presentation for a group of 300 managers in the consulting industry.

Technology is evolving along an exponential curve. And since technology is the driving force behind disruptive innovation, today’s business executives need to think exponentially to stay relevant and competitive. The problem is that, as humans, we are hardwired to think in linear terms. We have to train ourselves to think in exponential terms, and that’s what this presentation is about.

Patrick studies use cases and success stories. He follows where the venture capital and private equity money is going. Executives need to do the same thing, keeping their eye on the technology horizon and asking themselves what threats and opportunities exist within their established business models.

There are two types of innovation: incremental innovation and disruptive innovation. Incremental innovation comes from the center of a field. It comes from the experts. It comes incrementally over time. Disruptive innovation, on the other hand, comes from the sidelines. It comes from the edges. It comes from adjacent markets.

The first step to thinking exponentially is to identify adjacent markets, and there are a number of questions that can facilitate that process. The natural instinct is to adopt a defensive posture and worry about “who will eat your lunch.” The more strategic approach is to stay on offense and ask “who else’s lunch can we eat?” There are endless opportunities to expand your business model by improving on processes, materials and technologies that are not adequately serving adjacent markets.
