Human Machine Symbiosis
In 2019, for a short investigation, I went to Shenzhen's Aohu Industrial Zone, a cluster of factories near Aohu Village, most of which have been built for 20-30 years. I have seen the relationship between machines and people in these factories, which makes me reunderstand machines. On the one hand, machines imitate and replace people's operation, and I can see people's thinking, but at the same time, they have their own logic, just like their own life. Others have added many simple and direct modifications to the long-term production process to achieve the unity of the body and the machine.
Due to the sudden arrival of COVID-19 at the beginning of 2020, our previously arranged team's in-depth investigation was terminated. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, some small factories in the industrial zone have closed down, and some factories have switched to the production of mask equipment, while some factories are still very good. In addition, with the urbanization and the arrival of subway and more workers, the operating costs of factories have increased, and some factories have been evacuated one after another.
After a year, the team members were unable to convene again. Now, what is presented is a video work completed with the earliest research materials.
