(Eng) Artificial Intelligence: Friend or Foe?
Recently, the "Luda" AI chatbot sparked a necessary debate about AI ethics as South Korea places a new emphasis on the technology. Alas, this is not an issue that is particular to South Korea. For instance, in 2016, Microsoft launched its chatbot "Tay," and had to shut it down within hours when users were training to make offensive remarks against certain groups.
With this issue on the table, leaders of AI ethics from global companies including Microsoft, Facebook, and IBM gathered at the Asian Leadership Conference(ALC) webinar session to share their insights about the impact of AI technology on human society.
The webinar was live-streamed on March 24th, 2021 starring global leaders including Natasha Crampton who is the Cheif Responsible AI Officer at Microsoft, Noberto de Andrade who is the Global Policy Lead for Digital and AI Ethics at Facebook, and Francesca Rossi who works at IBM as an AI Ethics Global Leader. Professor Haksoo Ko, who teaches at Seoul National University and is also the President of Korean Association for A.I. and Law, also joined the webinar as a moderator.
