Crossroads: Unlocking Voices—Restoring Speech Via a Brain-Computer Interface
Many of us have imagined this nightmare scenario: you wake up, and you’re completely paralyzed — you can’t even speak. Sadly, this is a reality for people with stroke, spinal cord injury, or degenerative disease. Sergey D. Stavisky, PhD is a neuroscientist in the Neural Prosthetics Lab at Stanford University where he is trying to help people with paralysis by developing brain-computer interfaces.
This presentation was made at the A.P. Giannini Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship Colloquium held at Stanford University School of Medicine on April 1, 2019.
