Bioengineering Applied Neurotechnologies: a clinical partnership between Mason and Inova Hospital
In a first-ever collaboration between Mason’s Department of Bioengineering and Inova Fairfax Hospital’s Department of Surgery, students have an opportunity to work in a clinical setting and gain valuable, hands-on experience using actual equipment, all while working side-by-side with Inova neurosurgeons. Students are exposed to a variety of activities, including measuring their brain waves while hooked up to an EEG monitor. It’s part of the innovative Applied Neurotechnologies curriculum that enables bioengineering students to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it to a real-world environment.
