AI and Society | Rob Reich | Testing Ground Live (2025)

This story from Rob Reich was told live on stage in April 2025 at Stanford University as part of Testing Ground Live! Social Science on Stage, a storytelling show produced by Stanford Impact Labs (SIL) in collaboration with The Story Collider.

Rob Reich is the McGregor-Girand Professor of Social Ethics of Science and Technology at Stanford University. In 2024-25, Rob took a public service leave from Stanford to serve as Senior Advisor to the United States Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute (US AISI). His leave was supported by Scholars in Service, a program for Stanford faculty run jointly by Stanford Impact Labs and the Haas Center for Public Service.

Guided by a mission of partnering with communities to put social science to work for society, Stanford Impact Labs (SIL) invests to learn what works in designing, testing, and scaling solutions; trains scholars and practitioners to harness data and evidence for impact; and promotes a culture of public impact in higher education. Stanford Impact Labs is a university-wide initiative established in the School of Humanities and Sciences.
