THE FUTURE IS HERE

Ad Hoc Networking on Raspberry Pi for Routerless Connection

Ad Hoc (Peer-to-peer or P2P) networks allow wireless devices to communicate directly without the need of a router. This is great for applications where you have a need for wireless communication in environments where internet is not available.

This video shows you how to configure a raspberry pi to broadcast its very own Ad Hoc network.

An example of where this is useful is a drone using a raspberry pi as a flight controller. Out in the field, you will not have an ability to wirelessly ssh into the raspberry pi as there is no internet. This problem is solved when the raspberry pi is setup to use an ad hoc network, where a computer could ssh into the pi without internet.
