A Prosthetic for Your Brain
If you lost a limb, a doctor might fit you with a prosthetic, an artificial replacement that restores some of the lost function. Now, neuroscientists are able to apply the same concept in the brain, using implants to restore function lost after an injury or due to illness. At the 2016 World Science Festival, neuroscientist Philip Sabes discussed some of the potential uses for these neuroprosthetics and the hope they may bring to patients.
