I've built hundreds of financial models, created my own Excel financial modeling tool, and hired dozens of finance and accounting professionals throughout my career. So when Claude started building three statement models, catching its own formula errors mid build, and creating interactive financial reports from a simple PDF upload, I had to put it through real analyst work to see where it holds up and where it falls apart.
In this video I test Claude across three core analyst functions:
- Building a three statement model from scratch (it self corrected a column reference error before I even noticed)
- Creating KPI dashboards, summary financials, and comparison views directly in Excel
- Turning financial data into presentation ready PowerPoint decks with commentary and insights
- Some results blew my mind. Others crashed Excel five times in a row. And a few made me genuinely question what my role looks like in five years.
