Introducing RASTIC: The Robotics & Autonomous Systems Teaching and Innovation Center
Explore Boston University's newest feat: the Robotics and Autonomous Systems Teaching Innovation Center (RASTIC).
Located at 730 Commonwealth Ave, the hub is open to all College of Engineering students offering opportunities to enrich learning, provide hands-on experience, and foster a strong community.
From master’s level programs to undergraduate capstone courses and research labs, RASTIC'S technology, equipment, and testing facilities are poised to catalyze significant advancements in engineering.
Curious about RASTIC’s amenities? Within the 2,000 sq ft center, it boasts:
- A build area for project assembly and collaboration among students and faculty.
- A robot playroom for experimentation with ground and air robots.
- A mini-city space to test self-driving vehicles.
- An artificial intelligence center equipped with powerful servers to enable algorithm development.
- A soft robotics zone to develop innovative devices using flexible materials with applications in the medical field, industry 4.0, and beyond.
Each of these areas is outfitted with industrial-grade equipment, ensuring that students will be well-prepared to integrate into the engineering workforce.
Looking ahead, RASTIC hopes to host a variety of events, including a K-12 scholars program, intimate tech talks, career fairs, and research exchange meetings.
