Neurotechnology SIG Webinar Series | Bioelectronic Medicine
#Neurotechnology #NeurotechnologySIG #KTNUK
This webinar is part of a 1-hour monthly webinar series hosted by the Neurotechnology Special Interest Group: https://ktn-uk.co.uk/interests/neurotechnology. Each webinar features expert speakers and focusses on a new development in a different technology area.
The first topic in this series was Bioelectronic Medicine. Bioelectronic medicine is an emerging field where electrical devices read and modulate signally patterns passing through the peripheral nervous system. Chronic diseases and disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, hypertension and asthma could potentially be treated using these devices. Not only will bioelectronic medicines be able to treat diseases with more precision than conventional pharmaceutical medicines, but they should also have fewer side effects and could be far more cost effective.
Featured speakers:
Prof Tim Denison - University of Oxford
Dr Arun Sridhar - Galvani Bioelectronics
Dr Tim Constantinou - Imperial
The Neurotechnology Special Interest Group will help transfer knowledge from academia to the fast-growing industry sector and will provide a vital meeting place between clinicians and technologists.
The aims of the SIG are to grow the neurotechnology community and accelerate innovation through cross-sector collaborations.
