Ramana Polavarapu is the Vice-President of Goldman Sachs, India and the team lead of Artificial Intelligence. He is also a Machine Learning scientist and has secured a PhD in Economics. With the speculation of morally flawed artificial intelligence pervading mainstream discussion today, Ramana Polavarapu uses plenty of familiar examples to pick apart the fears of a technological singularity, how far away we are from one, and most importantly, if we’re really even going there. Exploring the present day of intelligent technology disrupting ordinary life, he discusses possible preliminary steps to test an AI for ethical conformance, and how we could all benefit from being vigilant, regardless of an imminent AI takeover of the world.
