The full automated Toolchain from 360° Camera to simulation for digital twin generation The use of a digital twin in the production process will be used, for example, for proactive planning, analysis of existing systems or process-parallel monitoring. Many companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, use the technology incorrectly or not. From your point of view, the generation of a digital twin is cost-, time- and resource-intensive. With our approach, these obstacles can be overcome quickly and easily, and the production layout and production logic (e.g. machine types, etc.) can be captured with a 360° Camera. The identification of CAD models and the transfer of geometric and other object data (e.g. machine types) from a reference library significantly reduces the recording of production. With the recognized machines, their properties are also known. With the comparison of the future production program, any simulation of the production can be created. Especially in the planning phase for investments, well-founded results based on a simulation model are indispensable for a target-oriented decision in today’s world. Recently, there has been a convergence of several technologies such as modeling algorithms, artificial intelligence and Internet of Things. This has created an opportunity to use models for design and testing of equipment. Combining physics-based models with data driven modeling techniques enables quicker overall product development time of rig systems as well as flexibility in optimizing the design parameters. These are also key to the concept of ‘digital twins.’ This video series explores drilling systems modeling, with a focus on surface equipment including the drawworks, top drive, and mud pumps. We will demonstrate the following elements: 1. Building a physics-based model and incorporating controls using pre-built blocks. 2. Calibrating the model to the field data to create the digital twin using automated parameter estimation. 3. Using the digital twin for optimizing system performance given operational constraints. 4. Implementing state-based supervisory logic on the digital twin for testing control logic. 5. Formal methods for verification, validation and testing of control logic against system requirements. 6. Generating PLC and C++ code directly from the model. This code can be used for rapid prototyping, embedded code deployment or Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing. 7. Graph Neural Networks (GNN) have produced groundbreaking applications in different fields where data is fundamentally structured as graphs (e.g., chemistry, recommender systems). In the field of computer networks, this new type of neural networks is being rapidly adopted for a variety of relevant networking use cases, particularly for those involving large and complex graphs (e.g., performance modeling, routing optimization, resource allocation in wireless networks). This talk presents the “Graph Neural Networking challenge 2021”. The second edition of this competition brings a fundamental limitation of existing GNNs: their lack of generalization capability to larger graphs. In order to achieve production-ready GNN-based solutions, we need models that can be trained in network testbeds of limited size, and then be able to operate with guarantees in any real customer network, which are often 10x larger in number of nodes. In this challenge, participants are asked to train their GNN models in small network scenarios (up to 50 nodes), and then test their accuracy in networks of increasing size not seen before, up to 300 nodes. Rick van de Zedde & Pieter de Visser, Wageningen University & Research. At Wageningen University & Research from April 2021 onwards, a digital twin (DT) will be operational. The DT will digitally represent a tomato crop of individual, virtual plants in their local greenhouse environment, and grown simultaneously. The DT will feature real-time updating of plant parameters and environmental variables based on high-tech sensor equipment available in the Netherlands Plant Eco-phenotyping Centre (NPEC) facilities. In the DT, each tomato plant in the crop will be modelled in 3D integrating a set of traits that correspond to model parameters. Thereby, the DT enables us to predict crop response (growth, development and production) to greenhouse and management conditions that affect production efficiency; light intensity and quality, CO2 dosing, nutrient availability and leaf pruning. Thus, the DT can support greenhouse management in real-time. This will be the first-ever 3D simulation model of individual plants growing in greenhouses that get updated by sensor data and that delivers updated predictions as the real plants grow. In that sense, it is a true digital twin, which does not yet exist for plants. This is an important extension of the plant and greenhouse modelling that exists today. As well, the DT allows for hypothesis testing and in silico experiments.
