Dave Waters once said predicting the future isn’t magic, its artificial intelligence. When it comes to machine learning, you may have heard of it as a subset of AI, but there is more to it. Join our FREE masterclass: https://bit.ly/3wFnlfd What is Artificial Intelligence? Artificial intelligence (AI) is intelligence demonstrated by machines, as opposed to natural intelligence displayed by animals including humans. Leading AI textbooks define the field as the study of “intelligent agents”: any system that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximise its chance of achieving its goals. Some popular accounts use the term “artificial intelligence” to describe machines that mimic “cognitive” functions that humans associate with the human mind, such as “learning” and “problem solving”, however, this definition is rejected by major AI researchers. What is Machine Learning? Machine learning (ML) is the study of computer algorithms that can improve automatically through experience and by the use of data.It is seen as a part of artificial intelligence. Machine learning algorithms build a model based on sample data, known as training data, in order to make predictions or decisions without being explicitly programmed to do so. Machine learning algorithms are used in a wide variety of applications, such as in medicine, email filtering, speech recognition, and computer vision, where it is difficult or unfeasible to develop conventional algorithms to perform the needed tasks. The following discussion will interest you if you are looking forward to picking a career path between the two by deriving a thorough understanding on how [More]

In this video I will explain what the main differences are between the current approaches to artificial intelligence and human intelligence. For this I first explain how neural networks work and in which sense they mimic the human brain. I then go through the ten most relevant differences that are: Form and function, size, connectivity, power consumption, architecture, activation potential, speed, learning technique, structure, and precision. Finally I express my opinion that the benefit of research in artificial intelligence is not the reproduce human-like intelligence, but instead to produce types of intelligence unlike our own that complement our own abilities.
Artificial Intelligence is by far the most important Technology of our era. AI is about to transform society, and I think it’s very important for people to understand the basics of it. In this video, I explain you the differences between Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Philip revealed what we should expect from artificial intelligence which is a significant part of our lives already. While math and problem solving comes naturally to Philip, the opposite can be said about his understanding of people. He has long ago recognized, that he needs a very deliberate effort to understand why people think and act the way they do. This has since become a passion and has led to a career as a professional poker player and now as an artificial intelligence researcher. Phil believes artificial intelligence will be the main factor shaping our future. This will be the topic of his talk. As an affectionate father of 2, he finds great purpose in working for a brighter future. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
