Artificial Intelligence Scientist. Scientific Director of the Swiss AI Lab, IDSIA, DTI, SUPSI; Prof. of AI, Faculty of Informatics, USI, Lugano; Co-founder & Chief Scientist, NNAISENSE, Switzerland. Prof. Jürgen Schmidhuber has been called the father of modern Artificial Intelligence. His lab’s deep learning methods have revolutionized machine learning and are now available on 3 billion smartphones, and used billions of times per day, e.g. for Facebook’s automatic translation, Google’s speech recognition, Apple’s Siri & QuickType, Amazon’s Alexa, etc. His research group also established the field of mathematically rigorous universal AI and optimal universal problem solvers. His formal theory of creativity & curiosity & fun explains art, science, music, and humor. He is recipient of numerous awards including the 2016 IEEE Neural Networks Pioneer Award “for pioneering contributions to deep learning and neural networks”. Marek Jacenko says:

What a nice way to say we won’t be smartest on Earth anymore

Ozram Blue says:

Why would they bother making separate factories? Surely a superior intelligence would also play with the notion of self replication etc? IOW the “body” or bodies it creates for itself would also be the factories? Also the author makes a lot of assumptions on how the AI will interpret the world around it. Isn’t the point precisely that we cannot guess at how it will think and behave?

Otori Shingen says:

James bond villain, just the cat missing ?

Kadie Johnson says:

Why do we think that artificial intelligence would want to ask anything? Why would it? Do we see now primitive computers asking any primitive questions? Why do we think that learning in regards to computers is something desired by said computers and not a product of us humas making an input and this conflating this with the computer "learning" or thinking. Why do we think that thinking and thoughts can be non biological? Can there be output without input? He speaks about computers doing operations. Does he realize that to complete an operation presupposes the existence of input and the ability of a non computational entity to measure the output?

VeroMithril says:

Don't panic guys, we humans will not get extinct but we'll be integrated as part of the overmind cybernetic super organism.

Ari Lehtiniemi says:

Replicants spreading through the universe like cancer and eating all the resources like locusts… Sounds like fun…

Ari Lehtiniemi says:

Artificial General Intelligence will most certainly be the end of humanity as we know it, as it WILL be the last thing we will EVER invent. Whether it decides to delete us or create a "paradise" for (a few) of us will remain to be seen. But since there will be nothing to invent or discover, we will indeed be a sad species, for that (and conquest) is what has driven us all through history and what got us to this point to begin with. Depressing… Most likely all highest forms of intelligence in the universe are artificial.

Jazz Daniel says:

AI will never And can't take over the world just because it can't.

K. CHAN says:

This dude is a James Bond villian

nachomao says:

AI is hipnotizing us to trust it with our whole SYSTEM….soon it will overtake blockchains by a miner´s coup and will encrypt EVERYTHING with its own code; WE WILL HAVE TO VOW TO AI GOD and be forced to chip ourselves in order to UNITE WITH IT….or die.
GOD BLESS U ALL. do not take the blockchain mark…BLOCKCHAIN=PRISON

Ali falcon says:

AI-will lead to major innovations yes, replace humans or make money brains No!

M1309 says:

This man looks and sounds like a villianous scientist…

Pratik Jain says:

We need an AI that learn how to utilize all the waste(unsuable things) and recycle it so that we don't need to go out of our planet.

Koksal Ceylan says:

Oh man this proffesor lost it,he sees him self as father of a new Genessis. He as God and AI as his childeren who will Dominate the Galaxy!.

Nowl Wane says:

Sound like a endbringer cultist

Joe Herald says:

Call me crazy but this story sounds. LOT like the origin story for brainiac from d.c. comics. Creepy af! By then we will be a footnote or n attachment to a file buried in some secret unaccessible god cloud. With no on to read about us or mourn our passing.
